Topic: Platinum Equity Closing on Genmar

It appears Platinum Equity has closed on the Genmar purchase. I was on the Champion forum on BBC and the future of Champion does not appear to be settled. It was said that Ranger and Stratus will be manufactured in Flippin at the Ranger plant but no certainty for Champion. What I found very interesting about the information was the number of comments of the Pierce family and BassCat and how respected their business plan is in the boating industry. I hope that Ranger, Champion, and Stratus are able to survive all of this turmoil but I for one will always run a BassCat.Brian

Well everybody who knows me knows i run Cats and champs! But i buy used and look for deals 99% of the time. But i am not optimistic about champs future with this situation. its a shame too cause they are a good boat. They aint a Cat but to me a much better boat than the other two lines (Ranger and Stratos). I think a lot of Champ owners will be looin at Cats in the coming days as most of them already like the Cats but are brand loyal. I hae to see any brand die off !!!!!!

Maybe some Industry insiders like BCB will shed some light on this subject? Like You and I spoke about last night Doug, Randy Hopper probably does not want a competitve boat being built along side HIS Rangers. Hopefully Stratos will continue on a similar path that they have been, a great boat for the money, and its Fast, hopefully its not turned into a Shiny Turd. I heard Al Stinson is not with the company anymore, but im sure he may find a spot for himself in Tenn somewhere, maybe with Gary at Phoenix? Its a crazy time right now, and Ive read the same stuff about how everyone is saying the Pierce family has really shown the right way to do it, hopefully for the folks building and buying the other brands their companies follow suit? BCB what are molds from lets say the Champ line worth? Just wondering, I know pennys on the dollar, just a question? Brannon
