That’s a fairly good DIY post and you’ve earned a Kudo for posting it. Contact Clothing to claim your Kudo prize. The insert is best cut with a sheetrock razor (box) knife and trim it on a slight chamfer for fuel flowing easier. The wooden paddle (fly) bit leaves a rough texture that aerates fuel and can caused kick back.
