Just my opinion…I was in the same position last year with a budget slightly below yours around $32-33k. Heres my advice…I wanted first and foremost a boat with warranty. Either new or a newer model boat with factory warranty remaining (on the outboard) because Ive known too many that buy a 7-8 year old boat and have problems right off the bat. Not saying a new boat wont have problems, but at least its covered. Secondly most people will say buy as big as you can afford, and Id agree if it wont “cost” you in other ways. Storing mainly. Some people have wives that dont like the whole garage being taken up by a boat that has to be cocked sideways to fit in a garage, and if you store it off-site its just an added expense that youll get tired of paying for sooner or later. Third – get the options that you cant do yourself or have added easily afterwards. Tilt steering, livewell upgrades, motor size, stereo with speakers built in seats, dual console if desired, compartment lights, and things like that. Other items like graphs, power poles, basic bolt-ons are easily added, changed, and outdated in time. Youll likely change these out sooner or later anyway. 4th – If you buy used have it checked out. Most BCB owners seem to take better care of their boats than some other brands but Id still check it.5th – Get a cover. I know its probably staying inside all or most of the time but it helps a lot. Doesnt have to be a travel cover, it can be a basic shipping cover as they call it.6th – Have fun looking and have patience. Not every boat is perfect and its easy to get to a place where youre frustrated and settle for something you dont want or settle for a boat without the options youre wanting. The Sabres are great boats, the P2 is an even better 1 longer version of it basically that can handle an additional 25hp. P2s in the used market 1-2 years old with warranty can be had within your budget for now anyway. A new Sabre FTD will also fall within your budget. 17 models range $32-39 from what Ive been told but Im sure with the options you can get it over $40 fairly easy if you just add bigger graphs and poles.
