Primer Bulb Question

I have a 2005 200 Merc EFI. The bulb seems to get "soft" after the boat sets for a few days. Is it normal to have to pump the bulb or do I have a problem. It seems to get firm when I squeeze it a couple of times and the motor runs OK.Thanks
