Pro guide battery noise

Battery is making a rhythmic noise much like sizzling.  Pro guide AGM 31.  Month old. New boat.  Charger is a MK 550 PCL.   I thought at first it was the charger but after putting my head in the bilge I figured out the battery was the source.  Even has this sound after you unplug the charger.  Going to load test it tomorrow as well as test the charger output.  Has anyone had this or even heard of it?

Remove it immediately to a well ventilated fireproof area.

Loads of baking soda incase the acid leaks out…

It may be fine, though if it’s not it Sounds like it is possibly charger related.

AGM a batteries do have a vent and they are lead acid, that is mostly sealed. If the charger is overcharging, then it could present a problem.

Get the data, voltage when charged, static voltage after sitting. Then we would start by calling Pro Guide and giving them your thoughts, then seeing what your next call should be based on their opinion. We don’t want to make assumptions on batteries today. Just too many variables in todays world.

Did load testing and static voltage.  Called pro guide and Minn Kota.  Seems to be in the charger.  Minn Kota said they would replace it.  Seems as if that bank keeps reverting to lithium mode once you reselect AGM it charges fine. Also shows as crazy as it sounds there is positive charge on the negative and negative going to the positive.  Sounds crazy I know.  Regardless I’ll pack it up tomorrow and ship it back.   Both Minn kota and pro guide battery were responsive and easy
