Pro-Tec is all you will need, it is actually a type of polymer sealant the adheres to the gelocat and seals the pores so no contaminants can settle in the pores and start the oxidation process. Pro-Tec sealant lasts 6-8 months, where a carnuba based paste wax will last maybe 2- 3 months, depending on the heat/humidity factor. Wax will actually start to melt in temps in the high 90s, and the friction of the water will also cause the wax to be removed. You need 2 days to put 2 coats of pro-Tec on correctly. Follow the directions for the 2 coat application. I have been using it on my White/Blue Cats for 7 years now and the finish still looks like new. I put one application on in the spring, and wipe the boat down with Bass Boat Saver or Meguiars Quick Wipe after fishing and the scum lines come right off the white hull. BBS has some UV protectors in it to also help protect the gelcoat from sun damage.Last edited by StanH on December 1st, 2007, 9:49 pm, edited 1 time in total.
