The 25 Trophy will perform fine if you dont want to invest yet in a propeller. That will get you started and you might have to relieve some vent holes if yours is a PVS series.

On my Classic I went from a 2.5 liter 200 efi mercury to a 3.0 liter efi beast. The 2.5 liter was a great motor. I had a 25″ trophy on it and it was the best all around prop for that motor. The 25″ trophy will work fine on your 200 optimax. It might be a little small and you may be in the rev limiter but I can tell you that it will perform great. You will have a much larger range of propellers you can turn with the 3.0 liter Opti than with the small block efi. I settled in on a 26″ fury for best all around performance on the 3 liter. It wasnt the fastest, or the slowest but had the best all around from hole shot to mid range to top end. I would guess your trophy will have a great hole shot and you will see 72-74 mph from it before you hit the limiter if you play with the set up a little. You will love the upgrade to the Optimax. You will now have a better chance to realise what the boat is capable of. The 2.5 liter efis were great motors just not enough tourque on the low end to reach full potential. I cant help with the set up but you will love the ProXS. If you have the $, get a Mercmonitor. Youll be able to monitor a lot more information about your motor like coolant temp, and accurate water pressure and RPMs. It will also give you more detailed info on most alarms. It can save you from blowing up a motor and unexpected down time.If you have a NMEA2000 network, you can get the data on your Lowrance units (not sue about birds).06

Thanks for the info guys. What is a pvs series? How will I know I need to relieve the vent holes?

PVs holes are large bore holes in the barrel of the prop. They give you the ability to adjust the venting by increasing or decreasing the size of the vent holes with plastic plugs. On a Trophy its usually gonna be 2 open and 2 closed or 4 medium sized plugs. Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
