Prop Damage

Wondering if this is too much prop damage to continue running? 2007 Sabre, Motor is a Mercury 150 EFI 2 stroke.

It will obviously work, but the question is how much damage has incurred too its geometry as well.  Balance in weight and geometry can affect the service life of the lower unit. I would send it out to be repaired.  If you don’t have a back up, now might be a good time to invest in one.  Then save the repaired prop for a backup.

It’s a blade front, so not much performance is lost, but it does need cleaned up to prevent slinging a blade. That area will continue to develop a crack from those lesions and could sling an ear tip. Cleaning it with a file and sand paper, then polishing will prevent some chance of damage.

It will likely work, but the real concern is how much damage the geometry has sustained. Balance and shape affect the lower unit’s lifespan. I’d recommend sending it out for repair. If you don’t have a backup, now’s a good time to get one and keep the repaired prop as a spare.
