Try plugging a few PVS holes with either smaller holes or plugs. The venting is too much exhaust on the blades. Ivan is still at the factory.
Thank You
I had an 02 Jag with an Optimax 225, it had a 25 Trophy on it when I got it and I also ran a 24 Fury, the fury had a much better holeshot. Are you running at sea level or close?
That is usually the TPI setting and any Mercury technician can check the Throttle Position for you.
OK i will look into speaking with my technician. Thank you
Hold it a minute, if you have not seen the boat perform before then who knows what propeller was installed on it. Get your hands on a 25″ Fury and see what you have.
I took it out this past weekend and couldnt get up on plane. It was like it didnt have enough umff. When my buddy sat on the front i got on plane no problem. I think it may be a prop issue. I cannot read any marking on the prop all i know is that it is a four blade and is smaller then the diameter of where the shaft come out. I think too much exhaust is blowing around the prop and its slipping. Im gonna try a 25p and a 24p fury first and see what happens. If the problem persists then i may have to have the TPI checked.
We dont think from your post that you have a lot of seat time and set up time in performance boats. We suggest you listen to the folks here, figure out your prop and then lets try to help this out. Your jumping in mud puddles and getting mired trying to chase rabbits. Set up is simple, get top end maxed with any propeller, then see what hole shot is. Reduce steering torque to get max top end and then control or increase venting.
Actually this is my 4th bass boat that ive owned. My last boat was a ranger with a 225hp. I will start with the prop and go from there. Thank you for your help.
GREAT! Then if you follow the directions of getting optimum height, watching trim angles and best performance, then the next step is regulating the hole shot. Too much venting restrict the exhaust, not enough hole shot open up that exhaust. BCB

I dont know which prop is on there now because there is no markings or brand on the prop. Does anyone have the same boat and if you do what prop are you running? The only way i could get it on plane is if someone leaned on the front.Any answers would help greatly.Thank you I had a 98 Jag with a 225 Opti. I also had a tempest. My best holeshot came with a 24 Fury with extra 5/16 holes drilled. I really doubt your problem is too much ventilation. Otherwise your RPMs would be high and possibly too much blow out when it brakes over to plane. If anything, it sounds like you may be a little to deep with the PTP. If the problem continues, at least try what BCB suggested. Get your top end speed. RPMs. Torque steer. It will help others help work you to a better holeshot. A BCB is a totally different beast than a Ranger.
Seems like all recommendations are for the 25P Fury 4 blade. I would try that one first.2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS
I run a 27 Fury and I have a 12 foot Talon I had extra holes drilled in it to help with holeshot.
Most rigs will not run a 27″ Fury. That is a great running wheel, though pulls hard. We would opt for trying a 25″ Fury 3 blade and perhaps extra venting.
