Prop question

To the smart people with all the information at there, please explain the difference in performance in a 4 blade and a 3 blade prop. Can you say that a 3 blade 25P trophy would be close to a 24P 4 blade Trophy? I had a 25p Tempest 3 blade on my 05 Classic but could not turn but 5150 rpm at about 5000 feet elev. I got a 4 blade Trophy 24P now but havent had a chance to run do to snow and ice on the water. Will this prop help me out with rpms and top end or hole shot? I have a 200 efi 2005 on it. Also how do I find the gear slip? Thank you for your help.

26 fury and dont look back unless you see you can turn a 27! But a 26 is the answer for most

OK,Ill bite–Ill bring it up. I dont fish those waters, but a High Five is a great prop for getting a heavy boat up quick, and keeping it on plane. Will NOT blow out like a Fury or Tempest will if you have to turn quickly, and will hold its bite in rough water.Sure you will lose significant top end, but in water as rough as St. Clair, Erie or Champlain, do you really have it to use, anyway?I also like the 5 in spring time backwaters, as you can plane a Puma FTD about as quick as you can a 16 foot john boat. Nice when you are back in a slough and need to run out on pad.Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN

Bobs running a 2000 Jaguar with a 250 efi and just put an XB ecm on it.

The Tempest might be worth a try 3 blades are known to run a little faster but the 4 blade is better in rough water. In my experience the 3 blades have a better holeshot also.

Dont think you should have any wires coming from your prop. Might have gotten fouled-up in there.Last edited by jpost on June 12th, 2011, 8:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Yes, not any wires in a propeller. Though some sheared metal may be coming out from shards in the hub. Remove the propeller as you may have a seal issue also, then clean it up and replace it.

If it was me, I might spend the $13 to change the LU oil just to make sure that wire didnt damage your seal. Metal wires and rubber seals doesnt sound like a good combo.

We would put a 23 5 blade on for tubing and go have fun. The ventilation is reverse of our expectations as it should stay stuck after the nose breaks and there is some slight venting.

I agree with BCB and Phil, 23 five blade for tubing, and a 25 Fury with no pvs plugs will give it an awesome holeshot otherwise.

A Fury only comes with three blades.
