You could do this, though the later models are Gator Hyde clear coating, which is a urethane clear coat from the same two (2) part material a bed liner is made from. This is made by the same company and product that the Road Armor is made from, and we opted to wait and go to a clear coat. The process is a PPG Epoxy primer, PPG paint in the newer water base and one or two coats of Gator Hyde. The best thought on a Gator Hyde trailer would be to add two extra coats of clear instead of one. It would enhance protection more. Though if you get on one of those long country road stretches, it would definitely still get pecked up. We have had only a few issues since Gator Hyde. Hope this answers your question! BCB
