Jamey, I have my 898 rail mounted and I have never had an issue. Im sure the 1197 is much heavier but it may still work if you support the “arm” with a rubber block like this person did on their P4.
I have mine on a ram mount but It is angled almost to the deck about 25 degrees off the deck and the face is pointed at me in the seat. The mount is about8″ long and no it doesnt get in the way of a cast. It does now and then get the electric motor cable across the face if so I just kick them over a little.Irv

I have Hummingbird 800 series on bow, and my boat came from BassCat with front Ram mount which I ordered. I actually replaced part of the mount and purchased the shortest length available which is perfect.
I have run a RAM mount at the bow for a few years now.My units stand as tall as I can get them so they are closer to me and I can see them better. Even though Im only 57″ I have never had any issues hitting them or them being in the way.Do it…you will be happy you did.Jamey
