Ram Mount

I am planning to mount a ram mount at the bow in the recessed area of my Sabre. I was wondering if it will be ok to just screw it down? I saw most people used nuts and washers but I didnt see anyway to get underneath it. It is a smaller mount for my elite dsi. Will it be strong enough just using screws? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

Only access is the plug panel. The rod box idea looks pretty tricky. Also where is a food place to get the aluminum for the backing plate. I had thought it would be strong enough just screwing it down with stainless screws. Might have bit off more than I can chew with this project. I dont want the glass cracking. Does anyone think it might hold that way if I laid the down in rough water. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ryan, I have a HDS 8 unit SCREWED IN on the front of my 2006 Sabre with the big ram mount. No problems and I have been on waters rough enough to have the Lowrance unit laid down on it own. I have had the unit mounted with stainless steel screws for two years now.

I have had my ram mount (522c) lowrance unit screwed to a rectangular wood white oak block which is attached to the fiber glass with 4 stainless shett metal screws 4 years now no loose screws ever.Irv
