Recommendation on prop for 05 Puma?

What prop setup(including number of vent holes being plugged) is recommended for an 05 Puma with a 225HP Optimax, w/ Detwiller hydraulic jackplate? I assume your recommendation will be with full livewells , two people and full fuel? Thanks, Don

For my rig, and my experiences with a 25″ Trophy, 26″ Tempest and 26″ Trophy…I have a manual jackplate, but have best performance with a 26″ Trophy, two holes completely plugged, and two with large hole plugs, no blow-out ring. The jackplate is flush.Puma DC with Pro XS 225 Optimax, fully loaded…Gary Hollander

Gary,Thanks for the response. I just received my new (4 blade 26″ Trophy Plus) prop and I will try it this weekend. When you say ” holes completely plugged”, does this mean there is no small hole in the midddle od the plug? The large vent plugs I ordered have a small hole in the middle. I am close , I am sure to getting it right! Thanks for your input. Hope you are enjoying this great boat like I am! Don

The “totally plugged” holes are just that. There is a PVS plug that has no hloe in in at all, and snaps in place as the others do. I dont have the part number in front of me, but they used to come 5 in a pack… Try the small hole ones and see how they do.Gary Hollander
