Topic: Red? | Bass Cat

This is a question for your knowledgeable fisherman. If red is supposedly undetectable to fish (like the Berkley red line), how come the lure companies say the the red on the baits appear like bleeding baitfish. I understand that red hooks could be invisible and help. But the ones that say that they are like bleeding baits would be saying that they are visible. Does anyone know the answer to this? Is red seen by bass or is it not?

My understanding on this is the sold back ground of a biat makes it visible. The line is not solind so does not show up. I think the bleeding bait works more on attracting the fisherman rathere than the fish. I have heard that hooks are solid so the red does appear to be bleeding, That is what I have come to understand.

You probably also need to factor in the depth which you are fishing, water clarity and light penetration as well.

I think that, if I remember, some experts years ago said that various colors lose their color as the light penetration decreases. I believe red is the first color to go, and blue maintains its color with the least light. They also said the colors change to a grey. Who knows what a bass sees, and how it affects it. Does color make a difference? It sure does. What color is the best? The color you have the most confidence in. As far as red line, a lot of fish were caught on gold Stren. Any of yall remember that stuff?
