I may have to remove a Factory/dealer installed transducer from the bilge of my Puma..It has the black Epoxy holding it down. I have read that guys just hit them with a hammer to break them free but that makes me a little nervous, how do you guys get them out....?? Would it be better for me to cut it out with a cut off wheel in a die grinder??What is the best tool to sand out the epoxy after removal of the TD?? I have a dremel and a Dewalt electric hand grinder...I also have a Pneumatic die grinder.....Thanks for any info
I tried knocking mine off with a brass hammer, and a dead blow. wouldnt budge. So I put my 4X Rivet gun on it and came off real quick. Sanded the old epoxy down with a high speed 90 degree air grinder with a sanding disk.
We bust them out easily. BCB does not use epoxy, though a fiber filled polyester resin putty. It is very (very) hard though will pop out with a solid hammer blow.
