Replacement For Zercom Flasher

When I had my 2001 Classic and my Zercom flasher went out I replaced it with a stereo head unit that fit into the opening perfectly. Several head units were available that would work.   Add a couple of nice speakers and you’ve got a clean install that leaves no ugly holes in your dash.

By the way, I loved that flasher as it was the only depth finder I’ve ever had that was reliable at telling me true depth regardless of bottom composition or how shallow it was at decent speeds.  After my second unit went out I put the stereo in place and enjoyed listening to tunes out on the water.

I had found one to replace mine on Ebay a few years ago, but I don’t know if you could now as Zercom was bought by Humminbird years ago.

If you would like to replace the old Zercom flasher with a new flasher, Vexilar makes the FL-10 with a puck trasnducer that can be glassed into the hull similar to the high speed ducers for Humminbird and Lowrance.  I run Vexilar units for ice fishing and have used it on the boat with the high speed V ducer on my older boat.  They work great and always read bottom very well.  Easy to distinguish hard and soft bottom returns.

We used a pre-Vexilar FL10 back in the 1980s on a different brand boat we owned at the time. I think it was called Si Tex back then but look exactly like the FL10.  Once you understand the colors and how to interpret, you’ll forget the monochrome  Zercom or Lowrance 1240A.

Any chance you might still have the transducer cable laying around from that unit

Mirelan, take a look here and see if they have the right transducer for you.  I am good friends with the president of operations and the head electrical engineer at Vexilar.  If you have any questions, I can get answers for you.  If you have an older Sitex unit, I can ask them if the transducers are interchangeable, I think they are.
