Resins

We saw a post about quality resin and a comparison. We wanted to again bring some clarity for those tech heads who want to know more about what we do and why. We work hard on resin and we only team that up with Owens Corning fiberglass and we are also an Owens Corning test facility. There are tremendous variations and the data sheets have lots of technical information worth knowing about. This is the resin used most in a Premium level Bass Cat model and to our knowledge NO other bass boat company uses this resin. We spec AME -6001 or AME-6441 mold resin.  AME-6441 is also a pure Vinyl Ester resin built primarily for it durability in mold construction.   Ashland AME-6001 is a pure Vinyl Ester. https://www.ashland.com/file_source/Ashland/Product/Documents/PC_13039_AME_6001.pdf https://www.ashland.com/file_source/Ashland/Product/Documents/Composites/PC_13331_AME_6441.pdf   Ashland AME-5001 is not a pure VE blended resin and is blended with other resins, this we do not use and we have tested. https://www.ashland.com/file_source/Ashland/Product/Documents/Composites/PC_13380_AME_5001.pdf And this is AME 1001 resin which some of our competitors use and is a low percentage of Vinyl Ester resin. we use this product in no place on a Bass Cat model. https://www.ashland.com/file_source/Ashland/Product/Documents/Composites/PC_13195_AME_1001.pdf The main resins in a Vision and Advantage series are a proprietary Isothalic blend, which we have had custom blended since 2013 model year. This is the shelf version and we do use a Vinyl Ester barrier coat on all products https://aocresins.com/en-amr/markets/marine/altek-h834-raa-25_copy/
