reworking a used trailer?

it is been a short while that my boat(nitro nx750) has been for sale. in order for me to possible get the boat that i want i have to sell for as much as possible. if i have to bite the bullet and sell it even cheaper, then i am thinking of going to a used basscat. here is the problem…. i am sure some of you guys have seen my posts about a narrower trailer so i can get the boat in the garage. i must do this because of my developement by-laws.my question is… if i get a used boat is there someone out there that can rework the trailer and make it narrower? can this even be done to a used trailer? i heard somewhere that a new trailer was about 5g. what would the reworking be compaired to this? i need as narrow a trailer as possible. ideally i need at least 94″. i ma be able to do some mods to the door opening and get maybe 97-98″. if i am reworking though might as will make it so i do not have to modify the door too. any suggestion, info, ideas, or bad news would be helpful.thankssean

XM, if worse comes to worse, you can always look into storage at a different location. I know it is added expense, but the money you spend to modify a used trailer would get you 2, maybe three years storage dues. Then if finances were better, you could get the trailer you needed. It would depend on the trailer, though it would not be that difficult to adapt one, depending on the area. Most any good welding shop could cut a frame down a couple of inches. The toughest part would be cutting the axles.In this case, we would simply go ahead and center cut the tube and weld them together with a sleeve U-channeled on three sides. The top does not have room for material on some trailers. The independent cross members would be each cut loose from the frame with a cut tool, and then cut down and rewelded after each end of the channel is cut. The A Frame on the front should be left as is and the channel only cut behind the spare tire at each cross member.The other option is if BCB has a narrow frame trailer that might fit whatever you wind up with. For example, they have a mistake in a narrow frame that was canceled at this time for a 20 model. This is rare though. BCB

really hoping to keep it here. plus that would be like a 200 dollar monthly bill to remind my wife about buying the boat. i do not want the stress of trying to win a monthly argument thanks for the idea.

i figured it could be done but the idea of a non boating company doing the major work scares me. if i had to get it done would you guys be able to recommend someone? and what about the the difference in cost between the 2(new and reworked)? the mistake trailer…how rare is rare? and we are talking about the 5g number to get a hold of one of these?thanks bcb

any idea where i could get this work done? should i trust a welding shop to set up the trailer? they would have to repossition the bunks and raise then to a height high enough that it does not hit the fenders. if i bought from a basscat dealer would bcb be willing to take the whole setup and do it at the bcb site by bcb employees? also do you have even an educated guess on cost? nothing i would hold you too.
