I have an 06 Sabre and the rod locker seals are too large. The one on the port side has become manageable but the one on the starboard side keeps my lid from laying flat and I literally have to kneel on it to lock/unlock it. Even then it doesnt feel really locked good. The dealer said when I bought the boat that it would flatten out in a short time. It has been 3 years and still a hassle. I am concerned that the lock isnt grabbing good and may even chip its way out where it doesnt lock at all. Anything I can do? -Judge Mc
We do compress the seal trim, and the trim is not in different sizes here. Contact Service and verify this, though we think you probably have the right trim. You can loosen the latch some, though the lid should compress. BCB
I was told that the 06 Sabre had a larger rubber seal around the rod box and that in 07 or 08 Bass Cat went to a smaller seal because of the difficulty that I am having. Is this true? If so, can I order the smaller rubber seal? Also, ofter the strip seal comes off when I open the rod locker.
No, that is not true. The seal was not changed for any particular reason such as that. We changed for mounting reasons and the cut out was changed to accommodate an easier install on some models.
Would it benefit me to get the new seal? Will it fit? Is it smaller in diameter? I would really like my rod locker lid to lay flat with the rest of the deck.
Give us in Service a buzz here and we will be glad to help out. We have been sort of watching this thread and we would send you a sample if you wanted one. Just tell my cohorts what you need, as I may not be the one to grab it. BCB
