Rod Storage in a Classic?

I have a 1999 Classic and there is not a good place for my partner to keep his rods. I am going to put some rod straps in and was wondering if I should put them on the rear deck or put one beside the bench seat(passenger side). My rod box is not drilled for placing the butts in. Thanks for any advice.

I put a rubber strap beside the seat on my P II. Works great.

I also have a classic and I have a rubber strap on the side. Works good just dont like the scrathes i get from the rods laying against the gelcoat. Im gonna lay a rubber lining there soon to avoid this.
