Rub Rail is loose!

On my 08 Puma, took the insert on the rubrail out and drilled a small pilot hole and placed a stainless steel screw in between the rivets where the rubrail was a little loose. I think the screws were 11/2″ long as to not get into the wiring or PVC. Also I two part epoxed the screws. Worked great. Good Luck.

The later series of boats has a machine screw with a nut on the rear side. You can replace the rivets and press the new one in and often the new rivet will expand and hold fine. You can also replace a few with machine screws every few feet ike later production if this is an older rig. BCB

That is an easy fix with a rivvet gun . Mine was loose and I fixed it in all of 10 min. . Call the service department at Bass Cat and theyll tell you what size rivvert you need or maybe even send you some , and then take the screw out of the very end of the rubrail at the motor and pull the lil plastic center peice out all the way up to where its loose at , and then drill out old rivvet and replace with new ! Then reverse to put it back together , its really very simple and quick !!!!!!!!!!!

tablerock: It may help if you mention the year of your cat. That may help determine if it is something your dealer can fix under warranty. Speaking of dealer, what did your dealer say?

ive got a 2006 sabre with a short section of rub rail sagging. can someone tell me what size machine screws, or what size rivets one should use to straighten this out? and would a course threaded dry wall screw work?ThanksBob

A dry wall screw wont last very long without rusting out , Everything on my boat is Stainless steel fastners . So im sure BCB uses stainless as well

Your right…this is on a 2008 PII…I mean after spending 30+K on a new boat I dont want the rub rail loose…ya know? Checking with Bass Cat first to see if this is warranty covered…

What did you hit? Dock Piling? I doubt if they will warranty something that was caused by use and not a defect in workmanship.
