You would be best getting those shipped to you from parts. The grip range is a tough one to find, and you will not likely get them long enough locally. BCB

JC, You are on the right path. You can drill all the way through slowly, or you can leave the shank out some and try to pull the rivet through (suggested) which will not always work. When it does not work, you will have to punch the rest of the rivet through the hull. The remainder will be in the boat in various areas. You will find some of them shaking out that you miss, and you can try to use extensions to vacuum some of the areas out. BCB

I ended up using vice grips to grab the heads after I drilled them out and I could either pull it out or break off the head and then push it through like you said. Job is done and rub rail is tight again. Thanks for the helpJamey

JC, If you wrap this boat, do not let them pull the rub rail. Have them tuck it under the top edge, and trim the bottom with a clear tape or sealant to hold it on the edge. That is if you are wrapping it. We figured out now that you are tightening an impact area. Though we got concerned you were removing the rub rail for a wrap. You now know that would be a job, and retensioning those rivets would not work well. BCB

A 3/16″ should work fine in good condition. BCB

Just replaced about 20 rivets on my Puma this past weekend. Indeed, the 3/16″ bit is the magic size. I was able to drill through the head and the head worked its way right up the bit. From there, all you have to do is punch the rivet through the hull. Thanks BCB and Jamey for the guidance.

Basscat uses a special length. Most likely your best option is to just call allan in parts.

Call Allan. He fixed me up a couple of years back for the same issue. The rivets are stainless steel.

Those most likely are compressed in their holes over time. Remove them by grasping the heads with a pair of needle nosed vice grips. Then you can just reinsert the new rivets. We would not drill them out unless required. The rivets will have to come from parts.
