Running wires to battery from console for new Humminbird.

I found it easiest to run from the back to the front. Remove the silver vent and it gives you a straighter line up the inside of the gunnel. My last three installs, fishing wire from the back kept getting jammed up at the gear shifter. Removing the shifter made it so much easier for me. Just do it carefully if you have to do that.

I used a piece of string / rope the last time I pulled wires I left enough so I can that I can tie the ends together in a big loop (inside the hull and over the deck) I attach my wire and I feed it to the front pulling the loop, once it is run I disconnect the wire feed the loop till I find my knot, untie and tuck one end by the console and the other by the batteries for the next time. I also found it helpful to remove the speaker when I was first pulling my wire. Mike

I have found to run a wire if you take your tape measure and slide it through the area to run the metal tape it is flexible enough to bend but stiff enough to slide through. Once it goes through tie a piece of string to it and push the button to pull the string back through.through.

Guys, be careful of using anything metal (rods, wire, metal tape measures, etc.). Youre going through wiring harnesses and some of these will puncture or scrape the insulation and could either short at the time, or develop a short. All the professional videos I have seen, they use a fish tape purchased at a hardware store. They wrap electrical tape around the plastic end of it has a loop in it to prevent it from getting hung up on anything inside the wall. When I ran my hotfoot throttle cable, I took the chrome vent cover off and had a skinny guy there who could reach his arm down and help feed it to the back. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
