The FTD deck is slightly wider due to height on the gunnels. It has a larger step, icebox, and two smaller front storage boxes. The deck extends farther back to the consoles. With the “flippin deck” installed on the classic Sabre, it carries the front deck all the way to the consoles, adding about 4 square feet in deck space. The insert has a lid over the cooler/step for easy access so you dont lose any function. It also creates a place for your partners tackle bag to keep it out of the way. The single compartment on the classic Sabre is huge and is more than enough space for storage. If youre trying to figure which of the two has more deck – the FTD does, unless you add the flippin deck. Add the insert and useability is awesome. With mine installed, myself and partner can both easily fish the front deck, and this tackle is completely out of the way. Theres also enough space underneath for not only his tackle bag, but a mid-size cooler and I use the step cooler as dry storage. The only negative to the flippin deck insert is the step up height to the deck.
