Sabre ftd 150 4 stroke merc question

Im in between 2.75″ & 3″ on a ProXS 150 on a non-FTD Sabre. I had to play with it a little bit. Take you some tools to the lake and have fun with it. That what I did. Find you a shallower place you can get out and walk around and adjust there instead of loading and launching time after time. That seams to be typical, mine dont really start to lift until the 40-45mph mark, seams to have to do with packing air under the hull, but hang onto your hat, cause 45 up to 67mph happens real fast, Once you start packing air. I am running a 24 tempest on a Pro xs 175 and lift is not a problem. However I couldnt get lift with a 24 fury. I have a standard Sabre with deck extension.

There is also a difference in some year models as the hulls are tweaked over the model years.

I havent messed with engine height yet, but tried 24 tempest and fury with the latter having less lift comparatively. The sabre is more weight sensitive and keeping heavy items out of front center storage seems to make a difference, hope that helps.

I havent run one with the 4 stroke – but have run the Sabre hull for the past 8 years. The Sabre is very weight sensitive. How you load the boat will completely dictate how it runs. If you load down the front, the hole shot will be its quickest – but it wont lift and run well. If you carry most of your weight in the back – itll be light and nimble and give you your best top speeds – the holeshot will be a little slower for the nose to break over – especially with full fuel and livewells. I carry most of my tackle in the rear of the boat. If you take everything out in front of the consoles on my boat – it wont weigh 20lbs. The rest is in the back. Moving my stuff around was good for 5mph and a much better handling boat. I carry a couple of trays of what Ill use for the day and about 15 bags of plastics. Rods and lifejackets are light as well. Any tackle thats out of season stays in the garage. The best load carrying prop will be a trophy and the fastest for me has been a worked 24 tempest plus. I have a 150efi Merc – so Im sure gearing and torque curve will be different.

How does the hole shot and top end compare with the two props? Im tempted to try a trophy, but waiting to see some real world results on the fury 4 first.
