Should not be a problem to get a windshield for it. I got one for my 92 Sabre when I had it. http://www.basscatstore.com/basscatwindshields.aspxI loved my Sabre…just outgrew it, plus a couple of extra feet is nice on Toledo Bend on those not so nice days. I was never afraid to go out in the Sabre but it is a smoother ride in the bigger boat. What 150 is it? EFI? I had an Evinrude Intruder 150 on my Sabre and it was a solid 60mph boat with all my tackle and full of gas. I have never ridden in an Eyra so I really cant say what the difference in handling might be but a Sabre does respond well and is fun to drive. Depending on how you load either – youll probably give up 2-3mph from the early Eyra – maybe…. Your old boat stood up on holeshot and was designed for big water with a deeper hull and keel. The Sabres a different animal. Little bump up on the bow at launch and its gone. Handles like a rat in a drainpipe. Drafts less water and runs high and clean. Its a hot rod go-cart for the lake. Ultimately – how you loaded each boat and its motors strength will make huge differences. My 08 Sabre is a routine 63-65 mph boat. Load it down heavy with a partner – 62. Clean it out and run by myself and 1/4 tank gas – Ive seen 67. I have no idea what your Eyra has run. I do know how you distribute load in the Sabre will make a huge difference in speed and running attitude…..

Its an XR6 Mercury. I never had my Eyra above 65, though it probably had more in it. I normally do a Lake Michigan trip every year and yes the nose high hole shot was a big plus in the big waves. Hopefully the ride is comparable. Honestly as far as speed is concerned, if I can hit 60 Im good with that. I normally ran my Eyra around 45-50 anyway. I dont tourney fish so its not a huge deal with me. Thanks for the replies fellas.

I own a 94 Eyra, Ive driven an early 2000s sabre. To be fare the Sabre I drove was also a 150 EFI and my Eyra is powered by a new175 ProXs. A go-cart on the water is a good explanation of the Sabre. You will feel more of the lake then you did in the Eyra. As you know the Eyra is a small big water boat with a deep hull that can truly eat big waves, which is what it was meant for. Sabre on the other hand is a rocket out of the hole (unlike the version 1 Eyra) and handles great, felt like it rode higher in the water then the Eyra. Top end Ive seen 70 in my Eyra very light load and not much tackle. normal speeds loaded with a co low 60s (The old Eyra as you know holds 52 gallons of fuel) Handling will be different with the Sabre, in my opinion it is not as smooth of a ride in the chop as the Eyra, but its a solid boat that you will enjoy. Oh the Sabre 150 I drove was a 60mph boat loaded he has seen 65 with just him and light load.

I just bought an 08 Sabre last week with a Mercury 150 EFI. Ive had it to 60 with me and my son, full tank of gas, fishing gear. The only thing I wish it had was hydraulic steering. Ive discussed adding it with a retired Mercury mechanic who does some work on the side but not sure its worth it.
