sabre play in rear seat pedestal

There is a small amount of play in the rear seat pedestal where the post comes up through the deck. Does BCB make a grommet or bushing of sorts that will go over the pedestal and into the hole on the deck to make it more ridgid.

I have a new 2013 p4 with the same issue. I have read that the white bushing can be changed to tighten it up from wear over time. Mine is loose at the top of the rear deck as well. The bottom is secure. Like to fix it myself somehow without taking to dealer who is far away just for this.

I had similar problem on previous boat…think its on a post here somewhere from BCB, but I just put some marine tex epoxy around it to fill in the small gap around deck and lower pole and it was solid after that. Good luck!

LB1202, Please give Pete a call in Service (870-481-5135, M-F, 8-4:30pm CST). He might like to have your serial number?psj,This is caused from leaving the rear seat in place all the time. The aluminum seat pole with time wallows out the fiberglass just a bit and makes it loose. It creates a space between the fiberglass deck and the seat pole. We have nothing that will by an easy or quick fix. What we have done here is wrap tape around the alum. seat pole under the deck from inside the battery compartment. Then from the top side pour resin or an epoxy based filler into the void to tighten up and fill that void. The tape on the bottom side just acts as a dam to keep the resin or epoxy from running down the seat pole and not building up. So the tape is wrapped around the poll to build up thickness.BCB Admin

I made some shims out of aluminum flashing and tapped them in the space with a hammer and screwdriver but I like BCBs idea better if you got some time to play with it.

Well actually it was like that since new (it is a 2008) and has never had a seat in the rear pedestal. In any case I will try the epoxy when I get a chance.

Same issue with my 07 Sabre FTD rear pedestal. The seat is hardly ever used. I leave it completely out the majority of the time. Ill take a closer look today to see if the epoxy idea would be feasible.

Same issue with my 10 Puma. Never use the rear seat at all. Pete suggested that dam and resin trick to me last summer, but I was afraid of getting the resin all over. Thought of using a syringe to get in that small space. I will probably try it this spring.

Looks like this problem is widespread and probably due to the hole being drilled slightly larger than the seat post.
