Sabre Trolling Motor Plate

On the plastic plate for the trolling motor receptacle, there are two screws on each side of the receptacle. One of the screws fell out and I cant feel anything behind the plate to accept the screw. Do I have to take the plate off? If I do will there be something obvious to make the fix? The plug is very tight and I am afraid that I will break the plastic while plugging/unplugging the motor. 2006 Sabre.

Yes, there was a nut behind that which has loosened. Those should have been nylock nuts on a BCB Install, so the bracket might not be loose, though just settled some. Dont over compress the well nut in the deck which is rubber, as expansion causes stress fractures on the decks gel coat. Pull the plate, and either put lock washers on screws or replace with machine screws and nylock nuts. I even use a drop of loctite on mine. One time fix ! also as BCB stated in another thread, put a little bit of vaseline on the plug to help eliminate moisture and aid in contact. D.
