Hello CatRus, So you know the 115powered Sabre is a Fine Rig, great power, great speed and INSANE MPG. However last spring I dealt with a order out gentleman from California, he was getting quotes on a Sabre with a 115 Merc 4 stroke, not really a terrific powerplant for such a great hull design, more of a pontoon or deep v slow troll motor, not for a bass boat. Anyways we discussed the options of Yamaha F115 4 stroke (which I do not sell) but is a Killer motor, super powerful, smooth, torquey and reliable, of course legendary MPG, but 4 stroke maintenance which is pretty EZ. I also told him of the most legendary 115 platform, the Evinrude 115, in this case the E-TEC. For 2009 Evinrude introduced the 115 HO (high output) and 130 Etec, both the exact same price, they are the same platform as the 115 etec, yet with a Cowl Induction air intake and a exhaust valve, pretty much meaning more air in and more air out, which produces more power and torque. BCB could not use one so we choose the Regular 115 etec, on Eddies 1st ever drive he was getting 54mph with the BCB supplied prop, and felt their was more in it because he was not at the 6000 rpm limit. Im not trying to confuse or sell you something different, just letting you know in the 115 segement in my opinion the Optimax is lacking, its a 3 cylinder,1.5liter, literally 1/2 of the 3liter merc optimax, the same motor is rated from 75-115 in regular trim and the just introudced 115 Pro XS and 125 Optimx, reeds, psi on airpump and graphics are different. They are just a hair more rudimentary, and have never really set the world on fire when it comes 115s, sorry to be blunt but its my opinion. I cannot comment on the Suzuki DF115, Honda 115,or Tohatsu TLDI, they are not as common. I know im going to catch hell for this post, Im serious when I say the difference between the 115 opti and etec are that much different. Id go Pro XS or HO for sure, the 130 etec does produce 3more hp because of the 10% legallity rule. You can call me day or night, I can get you in contact with Eddie hes a great guy and would love to share info, hell if you can get a mid 50s boat that produces over 6mpg, you will be the envy of the lake, I really feel the 115ho will FLY……Brannon Cell-920-295-2069 worner_brannon@yahoo.com MQMSS.COMYour Signature …
