Topic: Saddle fuel tanks

I think the fuel on the starboard side saddle tank is not being used on my 05 PIV. Ive run out of gas twice now using the saddle tanks with the gauge showing about half full. When I fill up, the port tank takes about 10+ gallons but the starboard side is not taking any, its still full. Anyone have any ideas if its plugged somehow? Im still kinda new to the boat (about 15 hours) but I thought I had a handle on the tanks operation. Switch at the transom is left for seat tank and right for the saddle tanks, switch at the panel is the same, left for seat, right for saddle. And BTW, the Smartcraft gauges sure are slow adding the bars showing the fuel level, and I assume thats normal.

Not quite sure about this one, as the tanks should fill each other, Alot of times when fishing alone and gassing up in the AM I will fill the left saddle tank full, and over the course of the day it will siphon into the right tank. As for the gauges, i wish they would just do away with fuel gauges as they are extremely inaccurate, and this has been on every boat i have owned. Even my brand new p4 at the time has not had the gauges working correctly (and still dont) since i got her. But i would rather just lift a hatch and look for myself then trusting the gauge. Sorry I cant help with you problem as to why the tank is not using its fuel but BCB and others will be along shortly.Jay Law

either the tank connector or the tee did not get opened when the fitting was made. If your close to dealer, run it in and they can get you taken care of or call Scott or Bobby Lee at BassCat 870-481-2135

Sounds like a dealer trip to make sure on this one. Get in touch with your dealership and have them convey the info to us, we will figure out. We think you are probably right, and there may be a blockage or a line connected wrong.It does sound like a line is placed on the wrong portion of the T. The saddle tanks should be together, and the main line go into another side of the valve.You can trace those lines if you choose to, in order to diagnose this. It will be something simple. BCB
