set up ?

i have a 99 cougar with 99 225 merc efi 25 pitch tempest my foot is 2.3/4 inches below the pad and i am pushing 6000rpm. question is one do you think my motor is to high ?second should i consider changing for a bigger prop(27 tempest) to bring my rpm down or should i leave it alone?i am running about 70 to 72mph with two men, full live wells,3/4 tank of gas andthe boat runs well not too loose (no chinewalking)thanksBrian

If you have steering wheel torque on top, lower the engine. If you do not have steering wheel torque on top with your load, raise the engine until you get torque and drop it 1/4″.It really is that simple on your rig. 6000 RPMs should not hurt a 225 EFI. Though it is above todays “suggested” RPM range. BCB
