Best thing he could do is go down in pitch, or put a 250 Pro XS on it. Not enough engine for that rig.Actually the engine will work on that rig and we would drop it at least 1/2″ and try a 24″ Fury on it that was not available then. Yeah, I told him it was underpowered but he got a really good deal so he bought it. The engine only has 70 hours on it and good compression. What do you think about a 24 fury?

I would lower the jackplate to flush first, then if necessary drop pitch. Dont know how the old 2.5 will handle a Fury, no experience there.But lowering the engine is where lift is developed, if it will pick that hull up. It really doesnt sound bad for what hes running, lowering the engine may help a bit, although will probably lower rpms.

Great deal or not – thats a big boat for a 2.5L motor. No matter how many wheels you bolt on – the motor will never shine. It doesnt have the torque for that size of boat. With that low of useage, it shouldnt be tough to find a buyer that could make better use of that motor. He needs to look for a repower opportunity and get a 3L that will work better.

Lower engine and a smaller prop. Give it a try and see what happens. Wouldnt waste money on the Fury prop in this instance.
