New boat owner. Merc 250 Pro XS. Hadn't warmed up and noticed when backed off trailer was tougher to get into R/F gear than normal. Temp was in the 40's and had been on the water in the 30's and not noticed the same issue going into gear but may have warmed up longer.
Got a little better but R was still a little more effort, tighter, than usual once warmed up. When got back to storage tied it a few times...F fine, R tougher. Did some reading and realize the issue now! Will not do it any more when not running as needs to be turning to facilitate going into gear, of course.
Did I do any damage? Any advice on possible reason and fixes? Need to go into the shop?
