I had similar luck with one of the “big” dealerships in Shreveport…..now in Bossier……hint hint. This was several years ago but I was running Dads boat on the north end of Toledo Bend and ended up getting in some shallow water too quickly. I hit a stump dead center. The nose of the boat felt like it went 90 degrees until the lower unit hit the stump and brought it down hard. Dad had a low water pick up on his lower unit and this acted like a cheese grater and just filled up with wood. Also, the Detweiler jackplate had something messed up. It would raise fine but when lowering it would act like it was caught on something and then all of a sudden it would drop. I dug out all the wood I could but the tattle tail still was not putting out any water and the overheat alarm was going off.Well, I took it to this “big” dealership thinking they would know more about fixing the problems than the shade tree guys around the lake. I explained what happened and that there was no water coming out of the tattle tail. They called about a week later saying it was ready. Drove up there and they said they couldnt fix the jackplate but the overheating problem was fixed……made the stupid mistake of trusting them and not getting them to put it in the tank for me…..drove it all the way back to Toledo Bend. The next time out, guess what……no water from the tattle tail. I was ticked and drove right back up to Shreveport. They acted like I was being a jerk for bringing it back. They put it in the tank and saw that there was no water coming out. Took the cowling off, disconnected the hose from the outlet and the trash flushed right out of the hose, and then told me thats all I had to do. I told them that wasnt the point….they should have done that to begin with. Ended up taking it to one of the shade tree guys and he found a broken bolt on the jackplate and got it fixed in a day. Id hate to drive all the way to Monroe but it might be worth it to get to EKs Marine and get some BassCat guys to take good care of us. By the way…I was in the same situation as you when I wanted to add new electronics to my Sabre. I was nervous about doing it but I feel confident in my abilities to follow directions. I was able to get mine hooked up and mounted and it works. Trust in yourself. Take it slow and ask for help if you get to a point that you arent sure about.
