Slidemaster jackplate

I noticed something starange when I went to raise my 8 inch slidemaster on my sabre . I was told raising it a hair might help my problem Im having at high speed.The plate was flush on the port side but a quarter inch lower on the starboard side?The plate seemed to be mounted correct and level but why would one side be lower than the other.When I raised it up a quarter the starboard side is now flush with the outside.You only have the single adjustment for both sides,dont know if I could use a hydrallic jack to even the starboard side up with the port or not,and then again is this set this way for a reason??Slidemaster is on vacation till Tuesday,I called trying to talk to someone.

Maybe Im just anal but called slide master they informed me their plates and pieces are sometimes not exact matches got pics of a 8 inch on another sabre Its just like mine but a tad more uneven shook lower unit it evened out a bit more I figure its simply in the plate sides not being machined exact so Ill let it be Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The plate is probably square and its a very difficult situation to explain though a square and measuring the bolts distance from the square will tell you if the engine is square and thats all you need to worry about. Odds are it is a plate we would guess around 5-7 years old or more and this was common, though the danger bolt holes were always square.

Plate was just purchased from bass cat about 6 months ago but its close enough its not going to be a issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As far as “where was I?” I was apparently visiting hades this afternoon. Went down to the river, 95 degrees, 150% humidity, blue skies with nary a cloud to be found. If you saw the movie “space cowboys” where the centrifuge scene was playing out, to quote the flight director “I am getting too old for this crap.” Looking forward to October.I live in Selma ( I call it Hellma, for a number of reasons), and its got to be one of the hottest places Ive ever been. The humugity is so bad that even though I sweat like a prostitute in church, it cant evaporate fast enough, no matter what kind of material I wear. That plate was bought from Basscat a little over a year ago, and was on my P3 until I repaired my 6 inch plate. I never even looked to see if it was straight as the one on my boat (2001 P3, at least 1/4″ difference in sides) has never been straight. I just checked that the motor was straight with a plum bob on the top of the cowl and the prop shaft, after the boat was level.
