It does have a NMEA output and it has NMEA capability for gauges. Mercury is SmartCraft protocol and requires a NMEA Gateway to output gauges, which is what your discussing of NMEA entails. The only thing Mercury allows on NMEA is the output from the GPS function on your HumminBird for speed. It is in the menus on set up and the source for speed option of Pitot or GPS is in the menus on SmartCraft gauges. They were set up at the factory to handle GPS output. Things can change when a 2010 model is in question and we are six model years down stream from the factory setting it up. Anyone can change it by going to factory defaults and the menus are where you find the set up toggles.
