Goto Teleflex seastar website and there are guidelines for what you use and when to use it based on what you have.Most of them use Teleflex seastar fluid but there are exceptions from Texaco-C.O.D. Jr. III

I havent been able to find the answer on that website. I suppose Ill call Bass Cat tomorrow but would really like to know today while Im off work. It is an 06 Sabre (150 Merc XR6) and came from the factory with hydraulic steering. It appears low on fluid but I have never filled it before so dont know how full or what type of fluid.

The real issue anytime you need fluid is why you need fluid. That is ideally a totally enclosed system with no need to refill.Need to check the nipples back by your steering tube for any leakage additionally the seals on the ram that does your steering.Gimme your serial number on the resevoir and i will see if I find it for you-C.O.D. Jr. III

Ward has it, there is no reason to add fluid other than you have a leak and a potential for a major failure. The fluid should just be visible.

I can see the fluid and it is covering all mechacisms, but it not all the way to the bottom of the fill hole. Is that ok?

We assume you do not have tilt, if you can see the fluid then you are fine there.
