Step height Caracal Puma/Cougar Eyra

The step height of the Caracal appears to be considerably higher then the Eyra, Puma/Cougar. Is it or does the wider deck make it look steeper/higher? For the young guns it probably makes little difference but for some of those 60 plus it might. Brian

I had a CougarFTD before my Caracal. I don’t know if there is a difference in step height or not. If there is, its minimal. I’m 74 and have no issues with the step to the front deck.

Deeper hull and the Lynx and Jaguar are deeper sequentially.

From my experience the step height on the Caracal is little higher than the Puma or Cougar. I am pushing my seventh decade but never had a problem in my Caracal getting around. All of my riders seemed to really like the layout and storage. Puma and Cougar seem to have the same step height, but the step on the Puma is larger so easier to manage for some because the step is larger. All three boats are great layouts to fish out of , just differences enough to serve everyone’s preferences of layout. It is hard to pick one when they are all great.

The Eyra is pretty tall IMO. Haven’t been in the other boats much so I can’t compare. I’m 50 and towards the end of the day, it is a UMPH going up…lol

I ended up buying a Caracal (2020). Put deposit on it couple weeks ago. Delayed sale while seller finishes tournament season. Should get mid June. I didn’t find step overly steep though steeper then my Classic. Can’t wait to get it and start fishing. I love my 07 Classic but looking forward to more room above and below deck. Carcal not as pretty as my Classic though.

You will certainly enjoy the increased deck space on the Caracal. if you fish with a proseat in, it gives you room to keep rods on both sides.

The rear storage is great and when I owned a Caracal, my riders always loved the layout and storage. I had no problem with the step and I am definitely a senior citizen. I also found a perfect net for the Caracal net holder.

What was the perfect net? BTW – Think I have someone who wants my boat but in case it falls through, if you know of anyone looking for a good used Classic send them my way. Looking forward to the new Merc four stroke. I’ll be over when maintenance is due. No more DFI oil! Still need Quickleen? I ran it 100% of the time in my Opti and a stabilizer also. Last several years Stabil Marine.
