Stick Jackets for rods work well…

Fellow Board Members,By downsizing from an FTD to a Classic, I gave up some rod storage room (especially the depth of the boxes). I usually carry 4-5 spinning rods in the spring-time, and there just isnt as much room in the Classic rod boxes. I saw an ad for "Stick Jackets" in a recent Bassmaster Magazine, and ordered some for spinning and casting rods. They are a little "pricey" ($9.05 each for spinning and $7.05 for casting), but they really do work well and stop the tangles. They work on the "Chinese hand-cuff" principle, but they do work well, plus you can hang up your rod when not in use with the eye-let thats in the tip. Although not for me, personally, they are available in "hot pink" as well as more traditional colors...Ive got 17 rood/reel combos in my Classic, just like I had in my FTD, and no more tangles.BTW, Im at 70.4 on the GPS and at the limiter with a 25" Tempest. Id like to try a 25" Trophy or Fury next...

The BPS rod socks work great also. I just bought 13 of them, they are 3.99 a peice and work on cast or spin rods. The only drawback is they are only for 6 to 7 ft rods but I used a zip tie to lengthen the strap and it works great.

Gary, How are you liking your Classic overall so far? I would suggest you try the 25″ Fury or a 26″ Trophy. I think you can swing the 26 Trophy and as you know I have been a fan of the overall performance of the Trophy on my Classic. I really like the 27″ I bought from you. Its my overall best prop so far. I tried a 26 Fury and it was nice but I would like to get my hands on a 27″ Fury. I was all over the limiter with the 26″ Fury. I really like the Classic very much. It is quick and agile, and responds much more quickly to trim, etc. Somehow I have managed to CRAM ALL OF THE TACKLE AND GEAR, ETC FROM MY FTD INTO IT, AND IT STILL FLOATS AND RUNS VERY WELL!I have hit a best of 70.4 GPS and begin to walk a little. I plan to raise my jack-plate a little, as it is currently flush inner/outer. The 25″ Tempest actually performs well enough, with a great hole-shot and acceleration. However, I miss the lift from the Trophy and havent had a Fury to mess with. I sold a 25, 26 and 27 Trophy last year as well as a 27″ Tempest–wish I had them back now!I havent even installed my flipping deck yet; but I do plan to order a carpeted step box so I have a couple of drink holders.I would like to try a 26″ Trophy if I could find one priced right (and not reworked)…LOZ is hot (at least it was before all of the recent rain and rising water this week). The Mojo-rigged lizard was a sure-fire way to limit with bucks in the 16-18″ length. Bigger female fish are scattered, but still catchable.Gary Hollander

The Cabelas rod sleaves are the best ive used. The stick jackets are all right but they tend to slide off when you pull the rod out of the rod locker, small problem but it bugged me a little. the Cabelas brand will hold 8ft rods.basscat24
