Stress Crack

I have a spider (stress) crack on the port side of my hull (exterior), maybe 2 inches in diameter. It would be near the end of the rod locker approximately where the bulkhead attaches. I noticed it for the first time in late fall before I put my boat away for the winter. The boat is 2010. There was no impact, and I do not fish big water at all, and I only fish recreationally. Recently, I was reassured by somebody from BCB that the problem was strictly cosmetic as opposed to structural, and was caused by flex in the hull at the bulkhead.As we know, BCB, and all other boat manufacturers do not warranty these cosmetic repairs. I want to sell this boat and get into a 2013 Bass Cat. I am not sure what to do about this issue. Repair is very costly, as it extends into the bolt and trim stripe, and even in the best of hands, may be noticeable when completed. Furthermore, I want to be totally transparent when selling, so I am not sure how to handle advertising it. I know stress cracks are pretty common in bass boats and are a frequently mentioned issue.

Where are you located? I have had similar cosmetic repairs on my old boat and Shoreline in KC area took great care of me. Be glad to hook you up with them.

I added a picture on my profile page. Cant figure out how to post it here. I dont have the boat here as it is in storage, so, I am only guessing at the diameter. From the two suggestions here so far, it seems like I should have a repair done before I sell it. By the way, my fibreglass shop thinks it is more than just a cosmetic issue. They have a very good reputation in my area, and about twenty five years of doing bass boat repair.

Inside out stress fracture. Somethings hit the inside of the hull somehow and pressed outwards on the hull in one pressure period. It does not look like a long term crack, though a one time punch outwards.

BCB, so it is not a result of hull flex at the bulkhead as was originally explained. And, if it is the result of a trauma from inside out, that would mean structural repair as the crack would be right through, correct?? I sure wish I had the boat home so I could provide more detail as to size and precise location with respect to rod locker.

What Bcb is guessing I think is that something in rod locker went bouncing around and did that. Seat pedestal and so on.I think? Thats on inside of the bolt? Id just get a pro to price respraying the bolt. $750 my guess. Flex injury would cause longitudinal crack. Imagine folding your boat like a taco, itll fracture parallel with the hull and perpendicular to the flex. Is the coloring and flake part of the fiberglass or part of the gelcoat?

Gelcoat. Flake suspended in it. Estes told me once malibu red tough because red flakes at different heights in it. Thats why reshoot whole area seems best from this peanut in the gallery.C.O.D. Jr. III

Somewhat of a puzzle as there has never been anything in the rod locker except three or four rods, well secured. Pedestal post, fire extinguisher, anchor, are all in the starboard side locker. In any case, getting back to my original inquiry as to how to advertise the boat, the feedback suggests that I repair it first, as opposed to just leaving it.Dennis, thanks, but I am quite a ways from KC.
