Submarined the P2 this weekend…

Was out on Friday prefishing for a crappie tourney on Lake Minnetonka just west of the cities in Minnesota.  Wind was ripping with 30+ sustained and 50+ gusts out of the E-SE.  We had just gone thru the narrows and headed around a big point in following waves.  I misjudged the distance and instead of gunning it to jump onto the next one, we slid down the backside and went right into the back of a 3 1/2 - 4 footer.  Filled the cockpit with about 8" of water, flipped the bilge pump on and kept on rolling.  About 15 minutes later most of the water had been pumped out other than what was filtering thru the carpet.  Graph mount and trolling motor needed to be tightened up when we got home but there wasn't a drop of water in any of the compartments (other than the livewell).  Of course every drop of water seems to go right thru the face hole of the rain gear and I felt like I was inside a water balloon.  About 90 minutes later we called it cause it was only 45 degrees and we were starting to get to the point of hypothermia.  Made it back to the truck and loaded up, peeled the rain gear off and was soaked head to toe.  Seat heaters were on high the whole ride home. Tourney day on Saturday we went to our starting spot and popped a quick limit and made a few upgrades but we still fell well short of our expectations.  We had 7.15 for 10 crappies and 21st out of 50 boats.  1/2 a pound upgrade woulda got us up about 8 spots.  It took 11.20 to win and 9.65 was 5th place.  Pretty good bags for a metro lake up north.
