Tail light question

Sounds like you might have a ground problem with the right light, or dependant on what kind of truck you are pulling with some of the toyato and nissans have turn signal independant of the brake lights and the wiring from the truck could be the cause of your problem. Quick check to see if its a ground is to turn the tail lights on and the right turn signal on at the same time if both work then its not a ground.If wired the usual way the right turn signal wire should be green. Hope this helps

Green, okay…I have a 2007 GMC. Tail lights and blinker work fine on the right side….just the brake light. I just looked at the plug which goes into the truck…only see 4 metal prongs…wonder if (1) broke off? Checked the ground at the right rear where the tail light grounds with the side marker light…loosened and rear tightened…wires look good in the ring connector. What gets me is I watched my buddy back the trailer down yesterday and the brake light came on half way down the ramp and went out again…if it was the plug that goes into the truck adapter, it should not come on at all. Checked the plug from the trailer and the connections look good. Has to be either the truck plug or the trailer plug I guess.

Yep, the factory lights are a three prong connector.

And converting is as easy as buying two new LED replacement bulbs and sticking them in the rubber grommets and plugging them in. Did it on my 08 when I bought it last year. And if you want to go further, you can find LED marker lights online for $4.44 that are exact replacements for the amber lights on the sides and the red marker lights on the back.
