I was fishing the BASS central two weeks ago on Lake Amistad. I had just sold my 07 PUMA and a friend graciously allowed me to borrow his boat (not a cat). Around noon on the first day, the cranking battery went dead. I tried moving batteries around and none of the other three batteries would start the engine. I was almost four miles from take off. Well, all you can do is put down the trolling motor and start trolling. I knew that I didnt have enough juice to make it but I was hoping I could get close enough to get towed in. I followed the bluff banks and started throwing a spook. Two hours later and half way home I caught a nice 3 pounder to cull up. With about 1/2 mile to go the batteries died. Even though Homer didnt recognize me being in a bass pro shop boat, he pulled me in!! I made it in just in time and weighed in 16 pounds to make 21st place. The second day I had a brand new cranking battery but the trolling motor batteries went dead at noon. I think the charger was bad. I barely missed the cut. Not too bad fishing a combined two days of roughly 10 hours. Thanks Homer for the tow!! Marc Schilling
