Thinking about a Ranger 620 – help me on this one

As much as I love my P2, life has changed for me a bit since having kids. I got 3 little boys now and a bass boat is just not cutting it anymore. My wife loves the water and my boys are going to be on the water as much as I can get them out. I went to the sportshow this weekend and looked at everything and I really like the Ranger 620 since its front deck is comparable in size to a bass boat and has a nice size rear casting deck that can be removed. I looked at the Yarcrafts and unfortunately the front deck space is substantially smaller. I know this is a BCB forum but has anyone bass fished from a 620 before. Looking for any insight.

There are a lot of differences and the cockpit size, rear deck as well as front deck all play into it. We suggest a little direct look at each and think abut the uses, access from inside the boat to the outside, cockpit access over gunnels, front deck needs and rear deck. There are a lot of differences and of course performance is one of those. Kevin short spent time in both a Yar-Craft and a Brand X 620 recently, he was impressed by the difference and while we would not elaborate the differences are similar in ride on bass model comparison.

Also consider the new jump seat since your using it as a family boat.

Just a thought, have you considered a Bay Cat? I know a lot of people that use center consoles for all types of fishing and family activities. I strongly considered moving into a Bay Cat for this reason(and to fish saltwater), didnt because I dont want to pay for storage. A good friend of mine in south LA has a Blue Wave 22ft cc boat, he fishes fresh more that salt. He takes his family of 5 out in it all the time.

There are lots of people Down here in Louisiana that use bay boats for both fresh and salt water. Plenty of them to be seen around Toledo Bend. More family friendly for the little guys in my opinion with lots of walk around room. Baycat sounds like a good option.
