Hello High Cotton,I am one of those that has voiced my opinion on the new motor. It has taken me a lot of time to get the holeshot where I am comfortable with it. The new Gen2 LU has definitely been a challenge to figure out. I have been told by very reputable highly trained Mercury technicians that the LU needs 24″ of set back from the pad. Mercury folks on the phone say they have not sent anything in writing on this subject. BCB (Stewart and Ivan) told me over the phone when I acquired about it from them they had no comment on it as they had not set one up for testing yet. They informed me that BCB is planning on doing so for the 2014 dealers meeting. So I was left kinda scratching my head on the whole issue. I ended up swapping the 8″ mechanical Slide Master JP out for the 8″ Atlas Hydraulic JP and it has made a world of difference. I would have liked to have been able to test a JP with more set back but when you dont have the assets to do so and using anything greater than an 8″ set back voids the warranty you are limited to what you have to play with. With the above post obviously someone in the BCB family has figured it out to a “T” and it has been noticed by others and is being circulated on the WWW. This type of publicity will only help BCB in the future as the INNOVATOR, and Im sure they will send out their findings, remedies, and results to the BCB family members.
