I ran across this blog in the BBC forum and it made me proud to own a BCB, they were discussing the new 250 Pro XSs with the Gen2 LU.: Some boat manufacturers lead, others follow, or left for dead. The smaller yet formidable manufacturers, that have fewer VPs than production workers, are always ahead of the mass conglomerate all but inept blobs. The BCB boys from Mountain Home have the Gen2 figured out, period. They didnt wine, cry, pout. They do what they do best, design & build Total Performance Bass Boats of excellent quality and a pure dedication to pride in craftsmanship.BCB has a model that when setup with the ProXS 250 Gen2 Fury, virtually zero bow lift on hole shot – up and gone – run off and hide – right now, for a fully loaded including2 fat guys with wind burnt faces 82-83mph.I have seen this firsthand, well I am just over an hour from Mountain Home, and this Kitty is the real deal. The first one I saw we headed to weighin in the 92-94mph range, the Kitty took off from a channel swing bank about a mile or so ahead of us. Normally this would just be another flyby, it took several miles (seemed like forever) to pass the Kitty, and we were already over 90 had been for 15 miles, they were at a dead stop!We werent in my G, we were in one of those that starts with an S.BrianBrianHAWG Hunter2013 BassCat Eyra2013 Mercury 250 Pro XS Gen2 L/U
Kind of a different reaction than Ive heard about the new motors. A couple of owners on here have told me they run like a dog (the motor). Kind of got me scared to trade because Ive got a very strong motor and dont want to give up any speed. The boats are badass tho
Hello High Cotton,I am one of those that has voiced my opinion on the new motor. It has taken me a lot of time to get the holeshot where I am comfortable with it. The new Gen2 LU has definitely been a challenge to figure out. I have been told by very reputable highly trained Mercury technicians that the LU needs 24″ of set back from the pad. Mercury folks on the phone say they have not sent anything in writing on this subject. BCB (Stewart and Ivan) told me over the phone when I acquired about it from them they had no comment on it as they had not set one up for testing yet. They informed me that BCB is planning on doing so for the 2014 dealers meeting. So I was left kinda scratching my head on the whole issue. I ended up swapping the 8″ mechanical Slide Master JP out for the 8″ Atlas Hydraulic JP and it has made a world of difference. I would have liked to have been able to test a JP with more set back but when you dont have the assets to do so and using anything greater than an 8″ set back voids the warranty you are limited to what you have to play with. With the above post obviously someone in the BCB family has figured it out to a “T” and it has been noticed by others and is being circulated on the WWW. This type of publicity will only help BCB in the future as the INNOVATOR, and Im sure they will send out their findings, remedies, and results to the BCB family members. What model was running 92-94 mph? I have seen a lot of guys claim they have boats that fast but they werent. How many horsepower was the guy pushing?
The 92-94mph boat was one of them “S” boats, and who knows what kinda HP it has on it.BrianBrianHAWG Hunter2013 BassCat Eyra2013 Mercury 250 Pro XS Gen2 L/U
Does it rhyme with “poker” ?????
Ally90 that was funny…….Strokers are definitely fast, just not a XB03 or XB21…..but their not supposed to be…..
All I can say is it mustve been a calm day . — Rode in one of those S boats a few years back . — Yeah , it was fast with the 300 hangin on it , but it didnt take much wind to make it more than just a little squirrelly . — Cant go fast if you cant keep going when it gets a bit rough . — I was NOT impressed with the ride at all once we got into some good chop . — Hoss
From what I have researched/read, Chub makes a heck of hull and is easier to drive at speed than an A boat. Bigcatter your driver may have been the issue. If I was to get into the speed game with a bass boat the “S” boat is what Id get, plus it doesnt look weird.
Chub makes Stratos?
