Tiger Tank O2 system compared to VT-2 livewell air vents

We do not have a DO meter on site now, though did have prior years. The VT-2 when rested did not increase oxygen significantly. Water splashing had a similar effect when under operation (moving), as did the recirculator a and aeration in operation. The claims are not using just one part as they have to be in motion under their description. The system and regulator on the Tiger Tank is oxygen, soap stones and regulator changes mm only used for bait and fish care. We have not measured the results on a DO, though it has been tested multiple times in other uses. Sloshing of water and recirculation just enhances the oxygen spread and dispersion.

Always wondered about the air vent validity of the sales materials and testimonials, and that hot 100 F summer air blowing through a livewell at 50 mph. I seriously question the oxygenation claim with no DO testing to prove up that claim.I for 1 would love to see the DO test results of a Tiger Tank O2 rig in August with 20 lbs. of bass in the livewell done at 2 PM? Real summer tournament conditions.I would think that if the DO test came out positive, that would boost sales when fishermen actually see what the TT O2 rig does compared to the standard Bass Cat livewell aeration system.Actually seeing the proof in the pudding might really turn slow/no sales around. So how about testing the DO in a new BC so we can see the difference between the O2 system and the aeration system, is that possible?

The standard BCB system works very well and we have not had high demand as a result.

The vents may be good if you are making a run every 15 minutes.Not sure they would have any benefit if you are on the TM for hours at a time.

Ive checked into the vents. I mean theroy tells me heat rises. So it would help heat escape. As far as the tiger tank goes. It definitley has to help. How much and is it worth the expense?. Well i guess that depends on the person. Ive owned a basscat since 89. Through they yrs ive lost very few fish. To be honest these days i mostly crappie fish and do bass fish on occasions to fill in the gap. In other words most of the fish i catch are headed for the skillet!. With bcb livewells design i just dont see the need for the tigertank. As bcb stated their livewells system is more than adequate. Anyone that owns a cat will vouche for this.

I do a function test on my live wells every time I fish a tournament.  I’ve owned Bass Cats for 16 years and fished tournaments since then.  The live wells have performed perfectly every time.  When the fish go into the weigh basket they jump all around and are very lively.  Sometimes I only recirculate and other times I aerate.  I would not consider doing anything differently than what I do now.  My live wells are “stock” from the factory.

I bought VT2 vents for a Nitro but sold the boat before installing them.  I planned to install them on the replacement boat, a 2010 Pantera II.  I never did because the livewells were so much better!!! I have had over 70 pounds of Hybrid Stripers in it on a hot summer day and they were a serious PITA to get out.  Same with bass too but never that much weight in there.  I have never lost a fish that wasn’t gut hooked and even most of them recovered.  I set recirc on 5 and aerator on 3 and just fish.  There is no need for anything additional with a BCB Advantage or Premium boat.  The new P Classic has basically the same livewell system my Nitro had.  I might consider the vents for one of those.

Do the VT2 vents work?  Folks who have them believe in them.  I personally have fished as a coangler on several mid-90s boats with them installed and the fish do better than they did in my Nitro.  They were very lively.  I think the vents help just getting the hot air out of the well.  That alone has got to be good for the fish!

If I were in your shoes, I would not install any oxygen system in a BCB.  I would install the vents if I was switching from the lid latches to side latches for the livewells or if I just needed confidence in the livewells.  I can tell you though you do not need anything if your livewells are clean and operating properly.
