Toledo Bend, High winds, Rough water, EYRA gets it done!!

Well gentlemen we made our annual trek to Toledo last week for our Club tournament. I knew it would be somewhat tough with the recent flooding, dropping the lake level so fast, and the 2 fronts we had passing with a week of 15-25 mph winds making it tough to move around on the big lake. I was correct on all accounts. Now, I know its Toledo bend and people were catching in several different places while we were there as evidenced by getting out Behinds handed to us in our 2 day club tournament.(LOL). Overall it was the slowest week of fish catching Ive had up there in 15 years as far as just getting bites. The point of me writing this post is not about the fishing though. I wanted to once again commend Bass Cat Boats for building the EYRA hull!! Youve all seen me post before about how impressed I was with the way the Eyra handles rough water but I was able to experience it to the fullest last week at Toledo Bend. This boat has a way of navigating the rough stuff with such maneuverability and responsiveness that it makes a poor rough water driver like myself look like a pro. If youve ever been on Toledo with 25 mph winds and gusts of 30-40 like we had a couple days last week you know how ugly that lake can get. I never even attempt to run long distances in those conditions but I was able to pop around from creek to creek last week when I would have never left the launch cove in my Classic. It was a joy to fish from for the week and although it was tough we did manage a few nice fish. Ill be going back in a couple weeks with the hopes of catching a few post spawn topwater fish and just catch a bunch vs. fishing strictly for a big bite like we did last week.
