torx rubber axle noise

I have a 2010 model with the torx rubber axle so it is a little over 5 years old.Ive not done anything other than change tires.Noticed that there is a slight crackle noise when rolling slowly. Cant hear it from the truck but only if Im sitting in boat while someone is towing me to the ramp. Once it gets rolling (5 mph?) noise goes away.The wheels arent getting hot even after towing a distance - I use a radar temp gun to check. It tows straight and seems fine other than this noise.Is this slight crackle noise at crawl speed normal? Ive heard other trailers make a lot more noise.Should I get the hybrid oil changed?

I dismantled cleaned and reinstalled the hubs on my 2010 two years ago. Great piece of mind to see the bearings in great shape. Im very impressed with the system. I did have to clean up the corrosion on the hubs exterior . I coated with spray on graphite grease. Been great and stayed on thus far. The noise at the ramp is usually associated with the brakes picking up debris from the water.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO

We are suspect that its brake noise also as there is nothing to creak besides the actual axle mount to the splined shaft.

So you never have to change the oil/grease inside?I tried to do a search but couldnt find much on the maintenance of these axles. Couldnt find much on the UFP website either.

I downloaded a repack process. But I have not actually found a recommended time frame for reseal and repack. I read and heard on this forum time frames. I mean in the theory unless you blow a seal the grease is there. Mine is a 2013 with vault hubs so Im gna keep a close eye on them. the “OIL” you speak of is grease which semi liquefies as it is warmed up and then gets back to a more “SOLID” state once the trailer sits a bit. is there not a grease fitting on the end of the hub?if yes, then get some good “MARINE” grease and pump it inif no, then it is the newer sealed hub and there is no way to service except to pull it apart. get your credit card ready

Its a vault system so no grease fittings.I put about 5000 miles a year on it so guess it has around 25000-30000 miles nowGuess Ill just keep taking the temp of the hub and if it starts getting hot then do something.

The grease fitting is removed after grease fill. The grease fitting is in the end of the spindle but then removed before installation of 5he outer grease cap. I downloaded the procedure from vaults website I believe. But is very detailed. I downloaded maintenance manual. It says to jack each side up and see if you can wiggle the wheel to check if bearings need realigning once a year.I did that and no play at all. Havent heard the noise again so I agree just some grit in the brakes.Cool…great trailer!

You are more likely to blow a seal.
