Trailer-Aid…. (ramp for changing flat tire on tandem)

I am planning on taking a number of road trips this spring and summer with my 2018 Caracal. The first of which is in March to Central Florida (1,200 miles from home). I am wanting to know if anyone has any personal experience with using the Trailer-Aid to change a flat tire on a tandem Bass Cat trailer. The videos sure look convincing. Would sure be a lot easier than trying to get down under the trailer on the highway and jacking up the trailer to change a flat. Planning on buying one soon unless they don't work very well from someone's experience. It appears there are two sizes..... I am wondering if the smaller one will give enough lift to change the tire on a Caracal trailer???

There was only one size when I bought mine, and it works exactly as advertised. It only works on a tandem axle trailer. I’ve used mine a couple of times. Get it.

I have one and only used once so far in my paved driveway. I also have a Caracal (2020). The issue I had is the thing slid when I tried t pull trailer up on to it. After a couple tries, I resorted to putting a piece of 2×6 (maybe a foot long) in front of ramp which provided enough of a boost to stop Trailer Aid from sliding. Once that was accomplished it worked great. I don’t think it would be a problem on dirt/gravel as the TA would less likely to slide. I just keep that same piece of wood in a bin with the TA so I’m good to go.

If you have some scrap deck boards laying around its easy to make your own. I used to toss it in the back of the truck for long trips.

I use a 4×4 with the ends mitered. Break the lug nuts free, drive the trailer right up onto the block of wood, change the tire, drive it off.

I would consider another alternative as you may run over something that results in both tires on a side being deflated. I bought one of the 12v electric jacks and also a 25 foot 12v extension cord. Use it to take off one of my wheels due to a bearing failure. Electric jack is very fast and easy to use. No need to drag out a big jack and the electric had the trailer in the air in about 2 minutes time. Total time from stopping the truck to the wheel elevated for removal was less than 5 minutes. Look on Amazon for Simtamy Electric Car Jack 5 Ton(11,000lb) 12V Hydraulic Jack.
